Our Story
In 2024, life changed direction.
Eleven days before my fiftieth birthday, I was made redundant from my corporate role. As a single parent to my daughter, and while navigating perimenopause and a new ADHD diagnosis, I found myself standing at a crossroads, wondering whether I really had the energy, courage and spark to begin again. It turns out, I did.
In the quiet of that uncertainty, I picked up a pen. I did not begin with a business plan. I began with a need to create my way back to myself.
I remembered being a child and getting lost for hours in a drawing, shutting out the noise of the world. I realised I needed that stillness again, the deep, focused quiet that comes when your hands are busy making something meaningful.
This first collection, The Signature Robin, is deeply personal. Having lost both of my own parents in my twenties, I know how much we search for small, tangible anchors that keep us connected to those we love and miss.
MAEKR & Child was born from that need for connection.
From the weight of the brass frame to the quiet shimmer of hand-applied gold leaf, every piece is finished by me with care. Each keepsake is created to honour the stories that linger, the ones that are often the hardest to tell, but the most important to keep close.

Why the Name?
MAEKR is a quiet tribute to the two forces at the heart of this journey: my daughter’s middle name, Mae, and my own initials, KR.
But it is more than a combination of letters.
To me, MAEKR & Child is a reminder that we are both the maker and the child.
We are the ones trying to build, change, begin again and make something of what life gives us. But we are also the ones who still need curiosity, tenderness, play and wonder.
For a long time, through life’s harder chapters, I had forgotten that balance.
MAEKR & Child was born as a way to find it again, to honour the strength of the maker, while keeping hold of the heart of the child.
