Our Story​

In 2024, life decided to rewrite my script. Eleven days before my fiftieth birthday, I was made redundant from my corporate role. As a single parent to my daughter, I found myself at a crossroads, navigating the dual storms of perimenopause and a brand-new ADHD diagnosis.

​

I was standing at the edge of fifty, wondering if I truly had the spark left to start all over again from the kitchen table.

It turns out, I did.

​

In the quiet of that uncertainty, I picked up a pen. I didn't have a business plan; I just had a visceral need to create my way back to myself. I remembered being a child, getting lost for hours in a drawing and shutting out the rest of the world. I realised I needed that stillness again, the deep, focused quiet that comes when your hands are busy making something.

​

This first collection, The Robin, is deeply personal. Having lost both of my own parents in my twenties, I have spent a lifetime looking for the small, tangible anchors that keep us connected to those we’ve lost.

​

MAEKR & Child was born from that need for connection. Whether it is the weight of a brass frame or the deliberate shimmer of hand applied gold leaf, every piece is hand finished by me to honour the stories that linger, the ones that are often the hardest to tell, but the most important to keep.

​
